I wrote Voice Rhythm AM Drone in Max MSP using a small collection of sound materials: five vowels (sung by Annika Moses), my own unvoiced vocalisations (breathing, hissing etc.), and a handful of sine tones. These materials were manipulated by, and in a sense give voice to, four semi-generative processes that I refined into as many pieces.

Voice Rhythm AM Drone was written for 7 channel surround sound during my honours year at UWA. Endless thanks to my supervisor Dr Christopher Tonkin, who shared invaluable knowledge and perspective throughout the project.
